Women's Hoops Heads to CSU Northridge to Start Three-Game Roadtrip

Game Notes

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team (9-10, 5-3 BWC) embarks on a three-game road swing through southern California beginning at Cal State Northridge (11-8, 5-3 BWC) this Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4:00 pm. Next week, the 'Bows will face Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 7 and UC Irvine on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Rainbow Wahine are currently tied for second in the Big West at 5-3 with the Matadors with Pacific leading the pack at 6-1. Hawai'i is looking to rebound after a tough, one-point home loss last Saturday against UC Santa Barbara. In that game, Kamilah Martin led UH with  game-highs of 14 points and seven rebounds while Vicky Tagalicod added 11 points off the bench.

Martin continues to lead UH with 15.9 points per game overall and has ramped up her game with a conference-leading 16.9 points—more than a point ahead of the next player. Martin now has 1,030 points in her stellar young career with places her 15th all-time in UH history, passing Tondi Reddon (1986-88, 89-90) who had 1,023 points. Martin also moved into third place in total rebounds with 823.

CSUN is completing a three-game homestand with the 'Bows. The Matadors snapped a three-game losing streak with a double-overtime win over Cal Poly, 80-70 this past Saturday. Ashlee Guay and Marta Masoni lead Cal State Northridge with 13.4 and 12.8 points apiece. Guay also leads the conference with 58 steals and is second in the BWC with 73 assists.

This will be last game of the first round for UH and CSUN. Hawai'i has a 3-0 series record against the Matadors. Their last meeting was a 66-58 win on Nov. 19, 2010 in Honolulu.
