FRISCO, Tex. – Former Rainbows Kolten Wong and Greg Garcia, and the Double-A Springfield Cardinals won their first Texas League Championship with a win over the Frisco Roughriders on Saturday.

Wong (2B) and Garcia (SS) anchored the middle infield for Springfield, with Garcia going 2-4 with one RBI in the series clinching game. The Cardinals won games one and two of the five-game series before dropping game three and clinching the title with a 2-1 win in game four.

Wong and Garcia were mainstays all season long for Springfield. They played in 126 and 124 games, respectively with Wong hitting .287 and posting 52 RBI and Garcia batting .284 and belting 10 homeruns.

Garcia and Wong played two seasons together for the 'Bows (2009, '10), both three-time all-conference selections. Wong was named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Team in 2011 and drafted by the Cards with the 22nd overall pick. Garcia was a seventh-round pick by St. Louis.

The victory comes just days after former 'Bows Jon Hee and Steven Wright helped the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox win its first International League title in 28 years.
