Game Notes
HONOLULU – After a difficult four-game road sweep to Gonzaga, the University of Hawai'i baseball team (14-11) will look to get back on track this week against UC Davis at Les Murakami Stadium. The Rainbows and Aggies will play Thursday, Mar. 29 (6:35 p.m.), Friday, Mar. 30 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, Mar. 31 (6:05 p.m.), and Sunday, Apr. 1 (1:05 p.m.).
UH and UCD have as brief a history as you can get. The two teams played just once, a 3-2 Aggie win at Les Murakami Stadium in the 2005 First Hawaii Title Rainbow Baseball Tournament (Mar. 2).
Despite the sweep to the Bulldogs in their first road series of the season, the 'Bows found their stride at the plate. Five players batted over .300 for the series, and the team posted a .331 batting average with 35 hits, six doubles, and one homerun.
Trevor Podratz had a break out series, hitting .375 (6-16) with a double, the team's second homerun, and boasting a .625 slugging percentage.
Rainbow pitchers had a combined 5.01 earned run average, but the UH staff still remains the class of the Western Athletic Conference. For the season, the 'Bows boast a 2.78 ERA and are tied with New Mexico State for the league lead in saves (7).
Jarrett Arakawa lost his claim as the WAC's best pitcher in terms of ERA, but his seven earned runs ties a league low.
The series marks a sign of things to come, as UH will see UC Davis on a yearly basis as a member of the Big West Conference beginning in 2013. The Aggies are in the midst of whirlwind week, hosting Nevada on Monday and No. 2 Stanford on Tuesday before starting their series against Hawai'i on Thursday.
The Thursday and Sunday contests will be streamed live on ESPN3 which can be accessed at
