Women's Hoops Hosts Nevada for Senior Night

Game Notes

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team (10-16, 5-6 WAC) hosts Nevada (5-21, 1-10 WAC) in their final home game of the season. Saturday, Feb. 25 will be Senior Night for four Rainbow Wahine--Breanna Arbuckle, Rebecca Dew, Courtney Gaddis and Carlotta Mingo. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Wahine are looking to bounce back after a tough loss to undefeated WAC leader, Fresno State, 83-52 on Thursday night. At first glance, it would look like the 'Bows got blitzed by the Bulldogs. In reality, they did in the first half, but in the last 20 minutes and Fresno State built as big a lead as 36 points, but then the 'Bows battled and fought back. UH  went on a 17-to-2 run of their own to trim their deficit to 22 points before FS started to pull away again to finish the game ahead by 31 points. Senior Breanna Arbuckle led UH with 13 points and nine rebounds--just one shy of recording her second double-double in a row. Arbuckle also had three blocked shots that pushed her ahead of former UH great Nani Cockett for third place all-time with 142 blocks in the UH record books. Freshman Kalei Adolpho and Kamilah Jackson both added eight points. Adolpho had a game-high 12 rebounds while Jackson grabbed seven off the glass.

Jackson continues to lead the Rainbow Wahine with 13.1 points and tops in the WAC with 10.5 rebounds per game and 13 double-doubles this season. She has scored in double figures in 19 games and secured double digits in rebounds in 16 games this year. Jackson has performed well across the board, setting personal season records with 52 assists, 17 blocks and 20 steals this season. She has also improved at the freethrow line, sinking .686 (216-for-325) and has also stretched defenses as she's hit eight 3-pointers this season as well. Jackson is currently No. 15 in the NCAA DI with 10.5 rebounds per game and No. 13 in double-doubles.

Arbuckle has also worked hard as finishes her senior season. She has scored in double digits in the last five straight games and has upped her stats with career season-highs averaging 6.6 rebounds and 9.9 points per game with 58 assists, 41 blocks, and she has raised her freethrow percentage by almost .200 points to .634 (85-for-134).

Scouting Nevada (5-21, 1-10 WAC)
The Nevada Wolf Pack comes to Honolulu after falling at San Jose State, 70-63 this past Wednesday night. Nevada has three players averaging 10 points of more, led by senior guard Kate Kevorken's 16.0 points per game (3rd in WAC) and 54 made 3-pointers. She is one of just two Nevada players to have started all 26 games this season. Kevorkan is shooting .460 (143-for-311) from the floor and .721 from the freethrow line (75-for-104).  This past game at San Jose State, Kevorkan led the Wolf Pack with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Senior forward Kayla Williams is back after a mid-season medical set-back, and is second on the team with 13.0 points per game with a team-high .521 field goal percentage (112-for-215) and 7.4 rebounds per game. Keep your eyes peeled for senior guard Amanda Johnson and sophomore Arielle Wideman who have dished out 108 and 99 assists respectively.
