Coed Team Competes In PCCSC Singlehanded Championship

LOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i coed team participated in the PCSC Men's Singlehanded Conference Championship Oct. 20-21 with Rainbow Sailor Julian Soto just missing the cut for nationals.
 
Soto was among four Rainbow sailors competing and finished third with 43 points. Oliver Toole (19 points) from Stanford won the conference championship and Kieran Chung (27) from Stanford took second.  The pair qualified for the 2012 ICSA Singlehanded National Championship to be held in two weeks in Los Angeles.
 
Also sailing for the Rainbows were Adam Pokras (5th, 53 points), James Foster (6th, 83 points) and Matthew Wenner (8th, 96 points). A total of 12 competitors were in the field with a dozen races completed over the weekend.
 
Next up for the coed team is the PCCSC Match Race Championship, Oct. 27-28, in Irvine, Calif.
