Hawai‘i Swimming and Diving Concludes Arizona Duel Meet

TUSCON, Ariz. – Luca Mazzurana took top honors in the 100 Fly, Karima Chuk won the 500 freestyle and the University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded their two-day meet against Arizona on Saturday at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. Arizona was the winner having won 32 of the 38 events.

Mazzurana also won his second event of the meet. He won the 100 yard butterfly today with a time 49.41 after finishing first in yesterday's 200 yard fly race.

Chuk, a transfer from Arizona State, won her first event as a Rainbow Wahine with her top finish in the 500 free. At 4:59.72, she was just .08 better than Wildcat swimmer Ashley Evans.

Gen Yamamoto took top honors in the men's 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:44.75, besting teammate Jason Hagia who finished second at 9:48.05.

Luke Hayes and Genevieve Bradley were Hawai'i's top divers on day two. Both finished fourth in the 3-meter and 1-meter springboard events, respectively.

The Hawai'i swimmers next compete at the Arena Swimming Invitational held in Long Beach, Calif. from Nov. 15-17. The divers are next in action at the Georgia Tech Diving Invitational in Atlanta from Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
