Men's Volleyball Hosts Grand Canyon For Two-Match Non-Conference Series

Match Notes

HONOLULU – The 13th-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team returns home to host a pair of non-conference matches against Grand Canyon of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Warriors (2-5) look to snap a four-match losing streak – their longest since 2009 – which began two weeks ago during the Outrigger Hotels Invitational. UH dropped both ends of a two-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation series at Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif., last week to drop to 1-3 in league play.

Grand Canyon is a Division II program in just its fourth season of intercollegiate men's volleyball competition. The Antelopes compete in the MIVA in men's volleyball and Pacific West Conference in most other sports. GCU (5-3) opened the season by dropping a two-match series at Pacific before reeling off five straight wins untillast week's loss to Cal Baptist. Included in the streak was a straight-set victory over UC San Diego, its first win over an MPSF opponent.
