Women's Tennis Concludes Homestand Against Mississippi

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team concludes its two-week homestand on Friday, Jan. 20 when they face Mississippi at 1:30 p.m.at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine are coming off of a strong performance in the Spring Invitational in which they won 9-out-of-10 doubles matches and 13-out-of-20 singles matches against Kansas, Kentucky, and Washington State.
 
UH's tournament play was highlighted by the duo of Katarina Poljakova and Jamie Pawid who went undefeated in three matches—including wins over a pair of ranked teams in Kentucky's No. 34 Jessica Stiles/Khristina Blajkevitch (8-1) and Kansas' 42nd-ranked Monica Pezzotti and Paulina Los (8-3). The partnership of Poljakova and Pawid opened with an 8-3 win over Washington States Liudmila Vasilieva and Elizaveta Luzina who are both ranked individually in singles at No. 101 and No. 123 respectively.
 
For Mississippi, it will be their first action of the season. Ole Miss boasts the 18th-ranked recruiting class in the country and is led by senior All-American Kristi Boxx who is ranked No. 12 in the preseason in singles and No. 4 in doubles with partner Abby Guthrie. Sophomore Caroline Rohde-Moe is also ranked in the ITA at No. 57 in singles.
