Kolten Wong, Lenny Linsky Named ABCA All-Americans

HONOLULU - The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I all-America baseball teams were announced, with University of Hawai'i second baseman Kolten Wong named to the first team and relief pitcher Lenny Linsky garnering third-team honors. The announcement came today by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Wong, drafted No. 22 by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft, started 59 games this season, recording 48 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples, 53 RBI, and led the Rainbows with seven homeruns. The three-time all-WAC selectee led the conference with 23 stolen bases and ranked third in on-base percentage (.492) and fourth in slugging percentage (.560).

Linsky, drafted in the second round by the Tampa Bay Rays, also earned all-WAC honors after leading the conference with 14 saves, which is also a new single-season Rainbow record. For the season, he recorded 34 strikeouts in 34.2 innings for a 1.30 earned run average. He picked up a pair of saves at the 2011 WAC tournament.

Both Wong and Linksy were also named ABCA/Rawlings first team all-region. All-region nominations and voting were conducted by the 36 Division I west region coaches, with first team honorees eligible for all-America recognition.

Both Wong and Linsky helped guide the Rainbows (34-25) to a WAC co-regular season championship, their first since 1992. UH earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, but fell in the title game to Fresno State.
