Jimenez Shines At Steve Scott Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team finished play at the Steve Scott Invitational Sunday at Anteater Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine set three personal bests and five seasonal bests at the two-day meet hosted by UC Irvine.

Sophomore Ashlee Jimenez set two lifetime bests in the 200- and 400-meter events. She began the day with a personal-best time of 57.11 to place 18th overall in the 400 and followed that with a PR time of 26.36 in the 200. Her 400 time ranks eighth all-time in program history.

Freshman Kevyn Murphy ran a seasonal-best 11:15.86 and placed sixth overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase while junior Lauren Opsal completed the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 1:07.06.

The meet was the final collegiate competition for the Rainbow Wahine before the Western Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks. UH will next host its final Sunset Series meet Saturday, May 7 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Field.
