Balentine’s New PR In High Jump Paces UH At Beach Invitational

NORWALK, Calif. – University of Hawai'i track and field athlete Samantha Balentine won the high jump competition with a personal best mark of 5-10 (1.78m) at the Beach Invitational at Cerritos College.
 
The meet was the fifth and final competition for the Rainbow Wahine during their current five-meet road trip.
 
Balentine easily surpassed her previous best of 5-8 (1.73m) set last season and is now tied for the fourth best high jump in school history. Teammate Sarah Saddleton, who holds the school's third best mark, finished in a tie for second place at 5-8.75 (1.75m).
 
A pair of Rainbow Wahine placed in the Top 10 of their respective events – junior Mallory Ramsey, who set a new personal best in the pole vault and tied for ninth after clearing 11-9.25 (3.59m), and junior Madara Apine, who placed fifth in the triple jump at 38-10.5 (11.85m).
 
UH will next compete in the Steve Scott Invitational, April 30 and May 1 in Irvine, Calif.
