Complete Results

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team finished in seventh place at the PCCSC Coed Dinghy Championship held April 9-10. Stanford blew away the field with a low score of 77 points, nearly 30 points ahead of its nearest competitor.

Following Stanford were UC Santa Barbara (106), UCLA (109) and USC (125). Those four teams qualified for the ISCA National Semifinals to be held at the end of this month. By finishing with 131 points—just six points outside of the top four—the Rainbows  failed to qualify for the coed nationals for just the second time in the last 10 years.

Competing for the Rainbows were Zachary Hester, Craig Schifferns and Lani Johnson in the A division (85 points, 7th) and Adam Pokras, Cienna Patmont and Johnson in the B division (46 points, 2nd).

The coed sailors still have an opportunity to earn a bid in the nationals for team racing when they compete in the PCCSC Team Race Championship, April 16-17, in Redwood City, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine can also earn a spot in the women's nationals when they compete in the PCCSC Women's Championship in two weeks.
