MALIBU, Calif. – The No. 74 University of Hawai'i men's tennis team fell to No. 13 Pepperdine on Tuesday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. UH dropped to 2-7 this season with the loss.

 

The Rainbow Warriors fought hard in doubles action, but came up short as No. 68 Alex Llompart and Alfredo Moreno rallied to defeat Leo Rosenberg and Jeremy Tweedt 8-4 at the No. 1 court while Finn Tearney and Sebastian Fanselow secured the doubles point for the Waves by defeating Dennis Lajola and Jonathan Brooklyn at the No. 2 court. Daniel Llarenas and Danilo Casanova nearly defeated Stuart Keplar and Daniel Moss at the No. 3 court, but were outlasted by the duo 9-7 (4).

 

The Waves (9-2) dominated in singles action as well, claiming victory on five of the six courts. No. 17 Sebastian Fanselow defeated Rosenberg 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the win for Pepperdine.Tweedt notched the Rainbow Warriors loan point by defeating No. 48 Alex Llompart at the No. 3 court, 7-6, retired, improving his dual match record to 4-3. Lajola took No. 58 Finn Tearney to three matches at the No. 1 court, but fell short 6-2, 1-6, 3-6.

 

UH concludes its southern California road trip by facing No. 6 UCLA on Friday, March 11. First serve will be at 1:30 pm PT (11:30 pm HT) at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
