HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team battled its way to an impressive 7-0 win over Air Force on Tuesday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors improved to 3-8 on the season.
After falling upset to then No. 8 UCLA last week, the Rainbow Warriors bounced back in a big way and swept the Falcons (8-4). UH started the day strong taking all three doubles matches to take the first point.
Jonathan Brooklyn and
Dennis Lajola defeated Lance Wilhelm and Andy Jackson, 8-4, on the No. 1 court, improving their dual match record to 5-3 on the season.
In singles action the Rainbow Warriors claimed victory on all six courts. Lajola took down Lance Wilhelm, 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 1 court for UH's first single win of the day.
Jeremy Tweedt defeated Lucas Marin-Salcedo, 6-2, 6-2 and boosted his dual match record to 5-4. Brooklyn and
Jared Spiker were also victorious in straight sets, while
Dmytro Kovalyov and
David Schuster outlasted their opponents for victories decided by super tie-breakers.
Next up, UH will host No. 40 Cal Poly on Saturday, March 26. First serve will be at 1:00 pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
