Sunset Meet #4 Produces Top Performances

Final Results

HONOLULU – The opening meet of the 2011 outdoor season produced standout performances by a pair of freshman for the University of Hawai'i women's track and field team. The meet was held Saturday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Field.
 
Freshman Kevyn Murphy set a personal best and the fourth-best time in program history in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:28.68. Fellow freshman Joanna Franke-Kuhn finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 165.9 (50.54m), which ranks sixth all-time.
 
Several Rainbow Wahine set seasonal-best marks including Amanda Alvarez in the triple jump (38-4.75/11.70m), Emma MacCorquodale in the hammer (179-3/54.64m), and Kellsey Trimble in the javelin (121-4/36.98m).
 
Hawai'i will compete in its first mainland competition of the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational, Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26.
