SANTA BARBARA, Calif - The No. 43-ranked University of Hawai`i men's tennis team concluded its three-match road swing through Southern California with a 5-2 loss to No. 65 UC Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon.
In doubles, Taylor Chavez-Goggin and Alex Konigsfeldt of UCSB (3-6) rallied to defeat
Leo Rosenberg and
Danilo Casanova 8-5 to secure the doubles point after the two teams split matches at courts No. 2 and No. 3
UH (1-5) got solid performances at the top two courts in singles, as both Rosenberg and
Dennis Lajola and were victorious. Lajola took down Benjamin Recknagle 4-6,6-4,6-2 on the No. 1 court, while Rosenberg defeated Konigsfeldt, 6-4, 6-1, on No. 2. However, the Rainbow Warriors lost the remaining four singles match-ups in dropping its second straight road match.
After playing its last five matches on the mainland, the Rainbow Warriors return home for the first time in nearly two months when they host a pair of matches versus Loyola Marymount (March 2) and Michigan (March 3) at the UH Tennis Complex.
