HONOLULU - The fifth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team (3-2, 1-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) heads out to California for its second road trip of the season. UH will face No. 3 UCLA on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6:00 p.m. PT for conference play and will kick off the two-day UC Irvine Tournament against Cal State Northridge on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 12:45 p.m. PT.
There will be 16 teams participating in the UC Irvine Invitational, including No. 1 Stanford and No. 2 USC. Matches will be played at the Anteater Aquatics Complex and at Corona del Mar High School pool.
UH Opens Season Victoriously
The Rainbow Wahine opened their season strong with a 12-9 conference victory over San Jose State on Feb. 3. Senior

Serena Bredin had nine saves for the match. UH finished the Stanford Invitational(Feb. 5-6) in fifth place, splitting four matches with wins against No. 16 Indiana and No. 8 Arizona State. Eggens and senior
Dagmar Genee led the Rainbow Wahine to a 8-3 victory over Indiana with two goals each. UH defeat Arizona State 9-7 with a balanced attack from six scorers while Bredin earned a season-high 10 saves.

Eggens Tops MPSF Goal Scoring
Monika Eggens broke open her junior season topping the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in goal scoring with 2.60 goals per game. Eggens totalled 13 goals in five matches. She was a top-scorer in all five and led the team with a hat trick in three matches. Eggens took first over California's second-ranked Breda Vosters (2.23 gpg) and San Jose State's third-ranked Timi Molnar (2.21 gpg). Goalie
Serena Bredin ranked seventh in the MPSF with 7.40 saves, tallying 37 saves in five matches.
UH Tied For Second In MPSF And Remains At Fifth In CWPA Poll
UH is currently tied with USC in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation standings (Feb. 19) with a 1-0 conference record. No. 4 California (11-2, 2-0 MPSF) currently leads the conference with two wins and no losses. As of the Feb. 16 Collegiate Water Polo Association poll, UH remains at fifth with 83 points. There was a subtle change in the polls on Feb. 9 when UCLA moved up a spot over California, taking the No. 3 spot and dropping the Golden Bears to No. 4 where the remain this week.
