Sailors finish fifth at PCCSC Match Race Championship

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished fifth at the inaugural PCCSC Match Race Championship, hosted by California Maritime Academy, Oct. 29-30.
 
A total of nine schools competed in the two-day regatta with Rainbows Adam Pokras, James Foster, Craig Schifferns, and Madeline Kennedy sailing for UH.  The competition included three different stages. Stage 1 on Saturday included a round-robin format. The Rainbows finished sixth, a point off of UC Santa Barbara.
 
On Sunday, the Rainbows raced head-to-head against USC in the gold fleet, finishing the weekend in fifth.     
 
Next up for UH is the PCCSC Fall Dinghy Championship, Nov. 12-13, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Silver Finals: 
Santa Clara def. UC San Diego 2-0 for seventh place

Gold Finals: 
Hawaii def. USC 2-1 for fifth place
UC Irvine def. UCLA 2-1 for third place
Stanford def. Cal Maritime 2-0 for first place
