SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i coed sailing started the season on a strong note with a victory in the Stoney Burke Intersectional, held Oct. 15-16, at Treasure Island. It marked the third straight year that the Rainbows have captured the regatta.
The Rainbows sailed against 24 other teams, a mix of coed and women's squads, UH tallied 107 points during the two-day event to close out the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos by 10 points.
A total of 22 races, 11 each in the A and B divisions, were completed over the weekend.
Adam Pokras and
Cienna Patmont captured the win in the A division, finishing with 55 points.
Michael Hanson and
Bree Nidds raced in the B division finishing in second place with 52 points.
Next up for the Rainbows is the PCCSC Match Race Championship, Oct. 29-30, in San Francisco, Calif.
