Hawai`i Falls At Fresno State, 79-57

FRESNO, Calif.—The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (6-13, 0-6 WAC) fell at Fresno State (13-6, 4-1 WAC), 79-57 on Friday night. Allie Patterson came off the bench to lead the Rainbow Wahine with 14 points, while Kamilah Jackson continued her hard work on the boards, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
Patterson went 7-for-9 from the floor and also grabbed a rebound in 19 minutes of action. Breanna Arbuckle was second on the team, tallying eight points with two rebounds and an assist while Megan Tinnin scored seven points had two rebounds with an assist and two steals. Shawna-Lei Kuehu had a solid overall game, blocking a season and game-high three shots and scored six points with five boards, five assists, and three steals. Jackson, who currently leads the nation with 13.1 rebounds per game, was held at bay offensively, scoring just five points.
 
The 'Bows trailed in the first half by as much as 10 points, but battled back to cut their deficit to just one point with 4:27 left on the clock. Fresno State pulled back to take a 37-32 lead into the half.
 
But in the second half, the Bulldogs pulled away scoring 45 second half points to UH's 25. Hawai`i, however, outscored Fresno State 32-to-30 in the paint and 15-to-11 in second chance points. But the Bulldogs were able to convert UH's 21 turnovers into 23 points.
 
The Rainbow Wahine concludes their five-game WAC road swing on Thursday, Jan. 27 at Utah State.
