Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho—The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (6-10, 0-3 WAC) fell to Idaho, 72-58 on Thursday night at the Cowan Spectrum. In the loss, Kamilah Jackson recorded her ninth double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 16 points with 17 rebounds.

Jackson's latest double-double ties the UH freshman record for double-doubles with former UH All-American, Judy Mosely, who tallied nine in her rookie season in 1986. Jackson, corralled 11 offensive and six defensive rebounds tonight and chipped in two assists in 33 minutes of action.

Hawai`i shot just 27.5 % (19-of-69) from the floor, compared to Idaho's 43.9% (25-of-57). Although the 'Bows outscored Idaho in the paint, 22-20, the Vandals scored 26 points off of UH's 19 turnovers. In comparison, Hawai`i was able to convert just seven points on UI's 15 turnovers.

Hawai`i battled early on in the game, with neither team getting ahead of the other more than four points through the first 14 minutes. But, at the 6:13 mark in the first half, the Vandals started to pull away, closing the half on a 13-4 run before Breanna Arbuckle sank a jumper in the lane with two seconds left in the half to cut UH's deficit to 21-30.

Idaho started out red-hot with a 14-0 run to begin the second half—draining four-straight 3-point shots (three by Bianca Cheever and one by Keri Arendse) plus a layup by Derisa Taleni to give UI a 23 point lead. Idaho never looked back despite a hustling effort by the Rainbow Wahine late in the game.

Behind Jackson, three Hawai`i players all had six points apiece—Megan Tinnin, Arbuckle, and Julita Bungaite. Tinnin also contributed with five rebounds, two steals and an assist. Arbuckle had four tough rebounds and Bungaite came off the bench with four rebounds and two blocked shots.

Idaho had four players post double-digits in points, led by Arendse's 13 points. Cheever had 12 and Yinka Olorunnife and Derisa Taleni both added 11 points a piece.

The loss is UH's fourth in a row and the 'Bows have now dropped 13-straight conference road games, dating back to the 2008-09 season. Hawai`i's last WAC road victory came at Utah State, 63-61 on Jan. 30, 2009.

Hawai`i will make the trek south to Boise State (10-7, 1-2 WAC), where they will take on the Broncos on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
