HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's basketball player
Dwain Williams announced that he will forgo his senior season in 2010-11 to pursue a professional basketball career.
Williams, a 6-0, 175 lb guard, arrived at UH with two years of eligibility after transferring from Providence College. As a junior for the Rainbow Warriors in 2009-10, he played in 14 games with eight starts, before sitting out the final 13 games of the year. The native of San Diego, Calif., averaged 14.0 ppg and finished second on the team in 3-pointers (31) despite missing more than half the season. He exploded for 20 or more points four times, including a career-high 36 points versus Saint Mary's in the inaugural Diamond Head Classic.
“After meeting with Dwain, a decision came forth the he'll pursue his dream of professional basketball,” said first-year head coach
Gib Arnold. “We'll miss his scoring ability and are grateful for his contributions to the program. We'll help Dwain any way we can and we wish him all the best.”
