Rainbow Sailors Capture The Stoney Burke Intersectional

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i coed sailing team made its first team competition of the year a successful one, capturing the Stoney Burke Intersectional, held Oct. 16-17, at Treasure Island.
 
The Rainbows beat out 26 other teams, a mix of both coed and women's squads, to win the regatta fro the second straight year. UH tallied 133 points during the two-day event to finish five points ahead of second place UCLA.
 
A total of 24 races, 12 each in the A and B divisions, were completed over the weekend. The Rainbows took the B division with 46 points and finished third in the A division with 87 points.  Zachary Hester, Laura Hughes  and Craig Schifferns sailed for UH in the A division, while William Petersen and Tahnee Allman sailed in the B division.
 
Next up for the Rainbows is the PCCSC Match Race Championship, Oct. 23-24, in Mission Bay, Calif.
