Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team is back in action when it hosts Chaminade in a rare intra-city matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The two schools, with campuses separated by less than one mile, have met just three times in the regular season with UH holding a 2-1 advantage. UH defeated Chaminade, 80-63, in an exhibition game last year. The teams last regular-season meeting was in the semifinals of the 2003 Maui Invitational with the 'Bows beating the Division II Swords, 68-54.
This will be the second of nine straight home contests for the Rainbow Warriors who started the homestand on Sunday with a rousing 96-78 win over Lamar. It was the highest offensive output for UH in six years, while the team also set season-highs for field goal percentage (.550), 3-pointers made (9) and assists (23).
Petras Balocka put forth a monster effort with 20 points and 20 rebounds for the first 20-20 performance since Bob Nash's 28 points and school-record 30 rebounds in 1971.
Chaminade enters the contest with a 1-3 mark. The Silverswords have already faced three Division I opponents in the Maui Invitational, falling to Maryland, Vanderbilt and Colorado.
