Warrior Football Ends Season With 51-10 Loss To Wisconsin

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team (6-7) saw its bid for a fourth consecutive bowl appearance come to an end after falling to Wisconsin (9-3) 51-10 on Senior Night at Aloha Stadium Saturday.
 
The Warriors finished with their first losing season since 2005, ending a four-game winning streak.
 
Javonte Taylor had three catches for 47 yards and a touchdown to lead the Warriors. Greg Salas ended up two catches short of the single-season record, posting three catches for 31 yards. Leon Wright-Jackson had 42 yards rushing on five carries while #Bryant Moniz wetn 15-for-34 with 197 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
 
Blaze Soares led all players with 11 tackles, while Spencer Smith posted 10 tackles with two for loss, including a sack.
 
Wisconsin opened the scoring on their first drive, as a 33-yard pass from Scott Tolzien to Nick Toon set up a two-yard touchdown run by John Clay. They scored again in the first quarter on a 65-yard drive, capped by touchdown by David Gilreath on an eight-yard reverse, making it 14-0.
 
After another long scoring drive by the Badgers, ending in a touchdown, to start the second quarter, UH got on the board as Scott Enos hit a 45-yard field goal. Wisconsin added another touchdown with less than a minute left in the half to make it 27-3.
 
The Badgers continued to control the game in the second half, scoring a touchdown after an 11-play, 85-yard drive, and a field goal after a 16-play, 77-yard drive. Hawai'i finally found the endzone with just under five minutes left in the game as Moniz hit Taylor for the two-yard touchdown to make it 37-10.
 
Wisconsin added two more touchdowns in the waning moments of the game, making the final score 51-10.
 
Hawai'i honored its 24 seniors after the game, including John Estes, who started his NCAA record 54th consecutive game.
