KOHALA, Hawai'i - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team battled Stanford in singles and doubles competition Tuesday afternoon at the Fairmont Orchid Tennis Pavilion.
In doubles play Stanford won two of three matches, though UH did get a strong performance at the No. 2 court. The UH duo of sophomores
Alyssa Nafarrete and
Barbara Pinterova rolled to an 8-3 victory over Logan Hansen and Carolyn McVeigh.
In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine won two of six matches. Pinterova outlasted Veronica Li, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 at the No. 3 court. Meanwhile freshman
Mari Tadaki gained a hard-earned 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Natalie Dillon at the No. 6 court. The Cardinal won the four other singles matchups in straight sets.
The results will not count toward either team's record, however, individual results will count. The competition concluded the fall season for the Rainbow Wahine. UH will open the spring season against California, January 14 at the UH Tennis Complex.
