Rainbow Warriors Finish Fall Season with Hawai`i-Stanford Classic

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team competed in both singles and doubles matches today against national and Pac-10 powerhouse, Stanford. The Rainbow Warriors held their own against the Cardinal who have four players and two doubles teams ranked in the ITA Preseason Rankings, including two players ranked in the Top 20.
The Rainbow Warriors had seven players in singles action today. UH senior Andreas Weber played against Alex Clayton ranked No. 7 by the ITA Singles Rankings. Weber was able to take the match to a super tie breaker but fell short to Clayton by a score of 6-7,6-3,10-4.
UH junior Jeremy Tweedt also took his match to a super tie breaker against Richard Wire ranked No. 76 by the ITA Sinlges Rankings but he also came up short, 3-6,7-5,10-6. The other five Rainbow Warriors- Philipp Eberhard, Craig Faulk, Dmytro Kovalyov, Daniel Llarenas, and Leo Rosenberg  all fell in their matches today.
The Rainbow Warriors bad luck continued into doubles play with the team of Eberhard/Weber falling to Clayton and Ted Kelly in the tie breaker.  The teams of Rosenberg/Tweedt and Llarenas/Faulk competed also lost their doubles matches.
