SEATTLE – Three University of Hawai'i women's track and field athletes placed in the Top 10 of their respective events on the second day of the University of Washington Invitational, Saturday at Dempsey Indoor. The UW Invite is the team's second official indoor competition of the season.
One day after finishing third in the pentathlon, multi-event athlete
Annett Wichmann placed fourth in the individual shot put with a throw of 46-6.75 (14.19m). On Friday, Wichmann scored an NCAA provisional mark of 3,919 points in the pentathlon, an event in which she placed fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships last season.
Emily Sheppard, who also competed in the pentathlon on Friday, placed seventh overall in the high jump after clearing 5-6.5 (1.69m). Sophomore
Anika Borden placed eighth in the weight throw after heaving 53-11 (16.43m).
The event drew athletes from a number of nationally ranked programs including perennial national champion Arkansas.
The Rainbow Wahine return to Honolulu to host the Sunset Meet #2 next Saturday at the T.C. Ching Field.
