SAN JOSE, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team dropped its second straight Western Athletic Conference game to San Jose State on Saturday night, 54-50 at Walt McPherson Court in San Jose, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine and Spartans battled back-and-forth all night, exchanging leads five times during the game, but San Jose State held on late for the win. With the loss UH drops to 0-2 in conference and 3-12 overall. San Jose State improved to 1-1 in conference and 2-13 overall.

Dita Liepkalne led the way for UH, scoring 12 points and dishing out five assists in 37 minutes of action.
Tara Hittle scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds and
Catherine Cho hit two 3-pointers for six points.
As a team UH shot 33.3 percent from the field, while San Jose State shot 41.3 percent.
In the first half, the Rainbow Wahine were led by
Dita Liepkalne, who scored 11 points and added three rebounds and two assists.
Katie Wilson scored a career-high five points in the first half and added three rebounds.
Offensively UH shot 42.9 percent in the opening 20 minutes, while San Jose State shot 41.4 percent. The Spartans had the advantage from long-range, going 7-for-9 in the half, while the Rainbow Wahine went 2-for-7.
UH returns to action Monday, Jan. 12 when it travels to Boise, Idaho to face the Boise State Broncos. The Rainbow Wahine will be concluding their three-game road trip with a 7 p.m. (MT) start.
