Game Notes
HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team begins its 30th season of Western Athletic Conference play by hosting San Jose State, Saturday, Sept. 27, in the WAC opener for both teams. Kickoff is 6:05 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.
The Warriors (1-2, 0-0 WAC) open defense of its WAC championship. Last season UH finished undefeated in WAC play with an unbeaten 8-0 mark. Currently, UH boasts a school-record 15-game WAC win streak dating back to 2006.
In last year's overtime thriller between the schools, the Warriors rallied from two touchdowns down in the final four minutes of regulation and eventually won 42-35 to keep their perfect season in tact.
The Spartans (2-2, 0-0) visited Stanford last week and dropped a 23-10 decision. SJSU led 10-7 at the half but could not muster much offense in the second half despite quarterback Kyle Reed completing 23-of-26 passes for 165 yards.
The UH-SJSU series, which began in 1936, is tied at 15-15-1, including 10-10-1 in games played in Honolulu. The Warriors have won the last seven games in the series.
