CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of Hawai`i Warrior football team suffered a 45-7 loss at Oregon State Saturday afternoon before 45,059 at Reser Stadium, the largest non-conference crowd in OSU history. The Warriors dropped to 1-2 on the season with both losses coming to BCS schools on the road.

OSU quarterback Lyle Moevao passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns and running back Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the Beavers to their first win of the year.

The Beavers extended its non-conference home win streak to 25 games. UH, meanwhile, lost its second straight on the road, after having won a school-record eight straight road games.

The Beavers out-gained the Warriors 485-211 for the game. The 211 yards was UH's lowest output since gaining 174 yards in a loss to SMU on Oct. 3, 1998.

Senior quarterback Tyler Graunke, making his first start of the season and the fifth of his career for the Warriors, finished 12-of-27 for 118 and two interceptions.

UH's first-ever visit to Corvallis started well. UH scored on its opening possession as sophomore Kealoha Pilares dashed into the endzone untouched from 16 yards out to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead five minutes in.

But it was all Beavers after that as Oregon State scored 45 unanswered points to cruise past the Warriors. The Beavers took advantage of good field position and three UH interceptions to kick-start the surge.

OSU missed field goals on each of its first two possessions of the game, but took advantage of prime field position on their next two possessions. OSU needed just 37 yards to tie the game as Jacquizz Rodgers scored on a 3-yd run late in the first quarter. The Beavers followed with a 40-yard drive, capped by a Moevao 3-yard toss to Shane Morales to give OSU a 14-7 lead at the beginning of the second quarter.

A Graunke interception set up a 55-yard drive and Sammie Stroughter's 15-yard touchdown reception from Moeva with two minutes left in the half put the Beavers up 21-7.

Things didn't get much better for UH in the second half, when UH was intercepted just two plays in by OSU linebacker Bryant Cornell. That interception set up Rodgers second touchdown of the day, a 1-yard plunge, that put the Beavers up, 28-7, and on their way to their first win of the year.

The Warrior defense was led by Keao Monteilh, David Veikune and Solomon Elimimian, who each finished with 10 tackles.

Hawai`i will have a bye this week before beginning defense of its Western Athletic Conference title with a home game versus San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.
