STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team (6-9, 5-7 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) dropped its second match in as many days to the Stanford Cardinal, 30-22, 30-23, 30-25, Thursday at Burnham Pavilion. The Warriors lost both matches to the Cardinal after falling in five on Wednesday.
With the two losses, UH drops to ninth in the MPSF standings while the Cardinal move into sole possession of fifth place. The Warriors opened their nine-day road trip with consecutive wins over Pacific last week.
The Cardinal (12-6, 8-6) jumped all over the Warriors in the first two games, winning easily 30-22 and 30-23. With the score tied at 20 in the third, the Cardinal pulled away for the 30-25 victory.
Freshman Joshua Walker was the only Warrior in double figures kills with 17. As a team, UH hit 19.8 percent, compared to 38.1 percent for the Cardinal.
Four players had double figure kill totals for Stanford led by Evan Romero's 20.
The Warriors will host a pair of non-conference matches with 13th-ranked Loyola-Chicago, March 5 and 7. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
