Rainbows Drop Finale To San Francisco 11-3 To Split Series

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (4-3) fell to the San Francisco Dons (2-2) 11-3 to conclude their four-game series at Les Murakami Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,100 Sunday. Alexander Capaul (0-2) took the loss while Brian Anderson got the win for USF.

Brandon Haislet kept his hot hitting, going 2-for-2 with a home run. Vinnie Catricala added a 3-for-5 game with a double. Harrison Kuroda came on in relief and pitched well, allowing just one run on two hits in 3.1 innings, recording five strikeouts.

Hawai`i got on the scoreboard first as Jonathan Hee scored on a bases-loaded walk.

The Dons responded in the fourth, scoring three runs to put them ahead 3-1. They then blew the game open with a seven-run inning in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run home run by Matt Lieb.

UH would add a solo home run by Haislet in the seventh and another run in the ninth while USF put up a run in the ninth as well, making the final 11-3.

The Rainbows will next head out on their first road trip, playing in the Coca-Cola in Surprise, Ariz., from Feb. 28-March 1. Hawai`i opens the tournament with a 1 p.m. game vs. Portland on Thursday, Feb. 28.
