Game Notes
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team concludes its two-week long road trip by facing Western Athletic Conference foe New Mexico State Saturday, Nov. 8. Kick-off is 2:00 p.m. MT (11:00 a.m. HT) at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Both teams are coming off frustrating losses last Saturday. The Warriors dropped a 30-14 decision at Utah State while NMSU was shut-out at home by 11th-ranked Boise State, 49-0.
Hawai'i converted only 1-of-5 opportunities in the red zone against Utah State, including two blocked field goals and one fumble. Still, the Warrior offense generated 374 yards of total offense, including 233 through the air, and did not throw an interception.
The Aggies were shut-out by the Broncos for the second consecutive year. On Saturday, NMSU trailed 28-0 at the half and its potent offense was held to 150 total yards. Quarterback Chase Holbrook was limited to 12-of-20 passing for 64 yards before leaving the game in the third quarter.
The Warriors and Aggies have met four previous times with Hawai'i winning all four contests. Last season, UH routed the Aggies 50-13 behind Colt Brennan's 425 passing yards and six touchdowns, three of which went to Ryan Grice-Mullen, who was on the receiving end of 195 yards.
In the teams' only meeting in Las Cruces in 2006, UH scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and a 49-30 victory. In that game, Holbrook passed for 323 yards and three scores.
