UH Cross Country Finishes Season At NCAA West Regionals

Final Results

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team concluded the 2008 season by placing 30th at the NCAA West Regional Championships, Saturday, at the 6K Stanford Golf Course.
 
The Rainbow Wahine totaled 934 points. Washington won the team title as its top five finishers placed Nos. 3-7 overall. Oregon's Alex Kosinski beat out teammate Nicole Blood for the individual title, crossing the finish line in 19:59.01.
 
UH's top finisher was junior Tava Tedesco, who completed the 6K course in 23:47.33 for 181st place. Freshman Liisa Cushing checked in moments later at 24:11.79 for 186th place while junior Samantha Lotnick was right behind at 24:35.47 for 189th place.
 
Also scoring team points for the Rainbow Wahine were junior Briana Goodnight (25:26.93/197th) and freshman Gina Nourmohamadian (25:58.57/201st). Senior Shannon Dresser also competed and finished 202nd at 26:12.09.
 
Sophomore Mariana Monasi, UH's top finisher throughout the season, did not compete.
 
The Rainbow Wahine competed in its 20th NCAA West Regional since 1981. UH's season comes to an end after not placing among the top two teams for the automatic spot to the NCAA Championships.
