Rainbows Also Drop Second Game Of Doubleheader 9-4

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (28-19, 9-9 WAC) fell to the New Mexico State Aggies (21-25, 6-12) 9-4 in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday. Ian Harrington (6-6) took the loss while Anthony Arrieta (3-3) got the win for NMSU.

Kris Sanchez went 1-for-4 for with three RBI and a double. Vinnie Catricala added a 2-for-3 game with one run while Brandon Haislet was 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.

The Aggies scored a single run in the bottom of the second to take the early 1-0 lead. NMSU added another run in the third, making it 2-0. They would also add two more runs in the fourth, to force UH into the bullpen, and an unearned run in the fifth, getting their lead to 5-0.

Hawai`i was able to cut into the lead in the sixth, scoring one run to get it back to 5-1. But the Aggies came up with a four-run bottom of the seventh, getting the NMSU lead to 9-1.

Sanchez drilled a three-run double in the eighth to cut it back to 9-4, but they couldn't muster anything else, losing by the five-run deficit.

UH will head back to islands to face UH-Hilo in a three-game series in Hilo, Hawai`i, from May 3-5.
