Wichmann Places 11th At NCAA Indoor Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - University of Hawai'i junior Annett Wichmann finished 11th in the pentathlon at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, Saturday, at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Wichmann completed the five-event discipline with a total of 4,007 points.

Wichmann, UH's first-ever participant in the championships, set two personal bests and three school pentathlon event records. The Jena, Germany native, started the day with a personal best and school record run in the 60-meter dash at 9.01 seconds. She also set another school record and PR in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:19.18.

In the other events, Wichmann tied the school record in the high jump, clearing 5-7.75, which tied for the fourth-best jump of the day. She also heaved 41-4.5 in the shot put, the day's fifth-best mark, and had her second best effort this season in the long jump at 17-10.25.

Arizona State's Jacquelyn Johnson won the pentathlon with a score of 4,393 points.

The NCAA Championship concluded the 2007 indoor season.
