Warriors Drop Third Straight At UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i men's volleyball team dropped its third straight match, a four-game setback at UCLA tonight in front of 776 at Pauley Pavilion.

Hawai`i falls to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. UCLA improves to 4-6 and 2-5.

Sophomore outside hitter Jim Clar continued his solid play slamming down a match-high 22 kills, which evened his career-high. He also posted a .447 hitting percentage to accompany five digs. Senior outside hitter Lauri Hakala recorded 16 kills and senior middle blocker Dio Dante added 10 while hitting at a .571 clip.

UH committed 27 service errors to no aces on the night and that proved to be the deciding factor. The Warriors won almost every other facet of the game as they out hit (.279 to .222) out blocked (18.5 to 11.5) and out dug (45 to 36) the Bruins.

UCLA had a trio of attackers with double digit kills led by Garrett Musgututis' 15 followed by Sean O'Malley's 12 and Steve Klosterman's 10.

The two teams complete the two-match MPSF series Friday night at 5:05 p.m. HST.
