'Bows Take Worst Loss Since 1998 At San Francisco, 15-1

Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (37-13) took their worst loss since 1998 against the San Francisco Dons (37-19) 15-1 at Benedetti Diamond Tuesday. Mark Rodrigues (3-2) took the loss while Jason Dufloth (2-1) got the win for USF.

The loss was the most lopsided for UH under Trapasso and the worst since a 24-9 loss at Fresno State in 1998.

Luis Avila had a good day, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and a RBI. Justin Frash was 1-for-3 with a run. Robbie Wilder went 0-for-4 to end his streak of games where he reached base at 36.

The Dons took an early lead, scoring runs in each of the first three innings to go up 3-0. UH's bats finally woke up in the fourth. Avila hit a double off the centerfield wall in the top of the fourth, scoring Frash to cut it back to 3-1.

But USF continued their hot hitting, posting two, five-run innings, in the fourth and seventh, while putting up two runs in the sixth, to take the 15-1 victory.

The Rainbows will now head down to San Jose, Calif., for their season-ending series at San Jose State from Friday, May 19, to Sunday, May 21.
