'Bows Drop 11-7 Slugfest At Nevada

RENO, Nev. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (15-20, 3-8 WAC) fell to the Nevada Wolf Pack (17-11, 6-2) 11-7 in front of a crowd of 841 at Peccole Park Saturday. Colby Summer (1-3) took the loss while Ryan Rodriguez (7-2) got the win for UN. Chris Scott came in for 2.0 innings to get the save.

Esteban Lopez had a good game, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a run. Isaac Omura kept his great season going with a 3-for-5 game with a three-run home run. Nathan Thurber added a 2-for-4 game while Adam Roberts went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Nevada got on the board first as Ben Mummy hit a run-scoring ground rule double in the bottom of the first, putting the Pack up 1-0. But the Rainbows answered right back in the second as Lopez came up with the bases loaded and hit a bases clearing double to right-center, putting UH up 3-1.

Nevada came back with a run in the second and another in the fifth to tie it up, before taking the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The 'Bows cut into the lead with a run in the seventh, before Nevada put up six unearned runs in the eighth, making it 11-4.

Omura blasted his homer in the ninth, but it wasn't enough as UH fell 11-7.

The two teams will close out their series with a 1 p.m. game tomorrow.
