Box Score

HONOLULU - No. 2 Hawai`i (11-4, 9-3 MPSF) lost for the second straight time this week to No. 3 Pepperdine (12-1, 12-1 MPSF) tonight 30-22, 30-32, 28-30, 19-30 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Warriors rolled in Game One hitting .625 collectively as setter Brian Beckwith dissected the Wave defense as five UH hitters collected at least four kills apiece.

Hawai`i led all the way in Game Two until 28-27. That's when Pepperdine's Sean Rooney got hot slamming down two quick kills to give the Waves a 29-28 lead. UH tied it on a hitting error by the Waves' John Parfitt. But Parfitt put PU up 30-29 with a kill. UH's Pedro Azenha tied it on a kill cross court. However, another kill by Rooney and hitting error by Jose Delgado evened the match at a game apiece.

UH took a four point lead in Game Three, 18-14, before Pepperdine chipped away and finally tied it at 28 on a hitting error by Matt Carere. A kill by Parfitt and another hitting error by Carere gave the Waves a two games to one advantage.

It was all Pepperdine in Game Four as the Waves took a 10-3 lead and extended it to 21-12 before closing out the match, 30-19.

UH was led by Azenha who put down a team-high 19 kills, followed by Matt Bender with 18. Pepperdine's Parfitt was the high kill man for the Waves posting a match-high 21 kills while hitting a sizzling .500.

UH closes out its four-match homestand next week with a pair of matches against Ball State March 11-12.
