The 'Noles jumped out early again, scoring two runs in the first and second innings to go up 4-0. But Hawai`i made their move in the fourth. Omura led off with a double that started a string of eight-straight Rainbows that reached base in the inning, including seven hits. Avila, Inouye and Rocky Russo all drove in a run each before Castaneda hit his grand slam, the 24th in UH history.
Florida State added two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to just one run. But Fisherbaugh made the difference, entering in the seventh with two runners on, forcing a ground out and a double play to end the rally. He allowed just one other baserunner in the eighth before closing the door on the Seminoles with six-straight outs.
Hawai`i was able to add two insurance runs in the seventh, scored by Spiers and Omura, who was driven in by Inouye, making the final 9-6.
UH completed its first sweep of the season and handed the Seminoles their first non-conference sweep since Feb. 6-8, 2004, at Arizona State.
