HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (11-8) defeated the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles (21-3) 7-6 on a RBI-single up the middle by 
Jose Castaneda in the bottom of the ninth, scoring 
Andrew Castillo, to give the 'Bows their second-straight win over FSU Friday. The attendance was 3,255 at the Les Murakami Stadium. 
Steven Wright (2-2) pitched 6.2 innings in relief, allowing just one run on six hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts to get the win. Reliever Tyler Chambliss took the loss for the Seminoles.
Joseph Spiers had a great game, especially on the basepaths, going 1-for-3 with two runs and four stolen bases. Rocky Russo led UH with a 3-for-5 game with one run and one RBI while Matthew Inouye was 2-for-5 with a run and a double.
The Seminoles jumped out early, putting up four runs in the top of the first and another in the third to hold a 5-0 lead.
Spiers then worked the basepaths, singling to the right and stealing two bases before scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third. The 'Noles got another run in the top of the fourth on a double by Shane Robinson before Russo scored in the bottom of the inning on a passed ball, bringing the score to 6-2.
It would stay that way until the seventh as the Rainbows scored three runs, capped by a RBI-single to left by Russo, to cut the defecit to just one run. Spiers scored another run in the eighth on a Seminole error, tying it at six, going into the ninth.
After a quick one-two-three top of the ninth by Wright, Luis Avila led off the bottom of the inning with a walk. Castillo then came in as a pinch runner and was moved over to second on a single to the left by Inouye. Castaneda then had a hard-hit grounder up the middle that bounced high off the pitcher's mound before reaching center field. Robinson, the FSU centerfielder, threw home in an attempt to get Castillo. But the throw was late as Castillo slid in to score the game-winner.
UH will close out its series with the 'Noles tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. Justin Costi will take the mound for the 'Bows against Florida State's Hunter Jones.
