Rainbow Wahine Track Open 2005 Indoor Season

All-Comer #1 Meet Results

HONOLULU - The Hawai'i women's track and field team opened the 2005 indoor season by hosting the first of eight All-Comers Meets at Cooke Field last weekend. The Rainbow Wahine feature an experienced squad for fourth-year head coach Carmyn James.

Junior Tasha Monroe started the new year with a new school record in the 300 meters. Monroe clocked a 41.09, while sophomore Ashley Monfort climbed to No. 4 on the school's all-time list for the 1000 meters by posting a time of 3:04.42. The event was a big jump for Monfort, a former sprinter who participated in distances only up to 400m.

The series of eight local All-Comer Meets is hosted by UH to help develop and prepare the Rainbow Wahine for their upcoming mainland competitions. It also services the needs of local athletes and programs to develop the sport in the state.

All information, dates and schedules for upcoming All-Comer Meets can be found on the Track & Field Home Page under "Other Links".
