Box Score
TULSA, Okla. -- The University of Hawaii Rainbow soccer team snatched its second straight conference road win with a 3-0 shutout of Tulsa Sunday afternoon. The Rainbow Wahine, who have lost just once it is last nine matches, improved to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the WAC.
UH is undefeated on the road so far this season (4-0-1) and handed the Golden Hurricane (3-6-1, 0-1 WAC) its fifth straight loss and first home loss of the season. UH has out-scored Tulsa 11-1 in the last three meetings.
As in its win against Rice on Friday evening, UH scored all of its goals in the second half. UH was unable to make good on any of its eight shots in the first frame. Head coach Pinsoon Tenzing placed offensive leaders Arlene Devitt, Robyn deHay and Natasha Kai all on the bench to start the second half and received immediate dividends after inserting the refreshed trio into the match.
Hawaii broke the scoreless tie at the 67:28 minute mark when Devitt shaked a Tulsa defender inside the penalty box area and drilled a wide-open shot from eight yards out to the right side of the goal. It was Devitt's third goal in the last two matches, and second straight game-winning goal. UH added to its lead 15 minutes later when Jessica Uecker set up a Natasha Kai header that sailed past Tulsa goalkeeper Kelly Wilson. It was Kai's team-leading 13th goal of the season.
The Rainbow Wahine scored their final goal with just 12 seconds left in the match. Junior Sasha Araya-Schraner notched her second goal of the season when she scored off a rebound of her own shot that deflected off the crossbar. UH out-shot Tulsa 20-7 for the match, including 12-2 in the second half.
The Rainbow Wahine will remain in Tulsa to play Oral Roberts in a non-conference match Monday evening at 7 p.m. UH, however, will likely play without Kai, who suffered a sprained right ankle in the win over Tulsa.
