Rainbows Fall to Air Force 11-4

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (15-14, 1-2 Easter Tournament) fell to the Air Force Academy Falcons (10-16, 2-1 ET) 11-4 in front of a crowd of 2,288 in the final day of round-robin play at the Les Murakami Stadium Thursday at the Les Murakami Stadium. Christopher George (4-4) got the loss for UH while Paul Vignola (5-2) got the win for the Falcons.

The Rainbows were led by Andrew Sansaver, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. Brent Cook added a 2-for-4 day with a double, a triple and two RBI.

After three great innings by both pitchers, the Falcon offense exploded as Air Force hit three doubles, one triple and two home run en route to a eight-run fourth inning, putting the Falcons up 8-0.

The Rainbows would muster a couple of two-run innings in bottom of the fourth and seventh innings before falling by the final score of 11-4.

The two teams will play again tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium in the semifinals of the Rainbow Easter Tournament.
