HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (14-12, 1-8 WAC) fell to the Nevada Wolf Pack (12-13, 4-2) 4-3 in front of a crowd of 2,383 at the Les Murakami Stadium Sunday.
Clary Carlsen (1-2) got the loss while Eddie Bonine (2-4) picked up the win for Nevada. Zachary Basch also got his fifth save of the season for the Wolf Pack.
Joshua Green led the way for UH, going 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Andrew Sansaver also had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a run. Brent Cook also hit a home run while Isaac Omura extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
Nevada opened up a two-run lead in the first inning and the Rainbows didn't respond until the bottom of the fourth, when Cook hit his home run to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Hawai`i then took the lead when Sansaver hit a long home run over the right field wall, that landed across the street from the stadium, putting the 'Bows up 3-2.
But the Wolf Pack would come back in the ninth as Mike Hass would score on a Robert Marcial infield single before Brett Hayes got hit by a pitch to score the winning run, ending the game at 4-3.
Hawai`i will take a day off before hosting the Rainbow Easter Tournament, starting Tuesday, March 25. The Rainbows will start the tournament against Western Illinois at 6:35 p.m. while Air Force will play Lewis-Clark State in the 2:30 p.m. game.
