Rainbows Fall to Nevada 5-1

Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (14-10, 1-6 WAC) fell to the Nevada Wolf Pack (10-13, 2-2) 5-1 in front of a crowd of 2,169 at the Les Murakami Stadium Friday. Christopher George (4-3) got the loss for UH while Mateo Miramontes (4-1) picked up the win. Zachary Basch came in to pick up his third save.

Isaac Omura extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 1-for-1 with two walks and a run. Brian Finegan added a double, while Andrew Sansaver picked up on RBI.

The Wolf Pack struck first with a four-run third inning, including a three-run homer by Ben Mummy. They would add another run in the fifth inning to go up 5-0. That was all that Miramontes would need as the Rainbows broke up his no-hitter and shutout in the bottom of the sixth when Omura singled, Finegan doubled and Sansaver drove him in, scoring UH's only run.

The two teams will face off tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium. Richard Olsen will start for the 'Bows against Justin Sherman of Nevada.
