Dejan Miladinovic enjoyed fine matches but could not carry third-ranked Hawaii (15-5, 12-3 MPSF) to an upset win on the road at No. 2 Pepperdine (19-4, 14-2 MPSF) before a crowd of 875 at Firestone Fieldhouse, 30-26, 30-28, 26-30, 30-26.
Theocharidis, a native of Orestiada, Greece recorded a match-high 22 kills on 48 total swings to spark the Warrior offense. The two-time All-MPSF outside hitter committed just three attacking errors and posted a .396 hitting percentage in recording his team-high eighth 20-plus kill performance of the season.
NCAA Division I blocking leader Dejan Miladinovic led all players with seven total blocks and also enjoyed a fine offensive match, recording 10 kills on a .438 attack percentage, with just three errors in 16 swings. The Serbian national also pushed his school record career blocks total to 661.
Warrior senior libero Vernon Podlewski covered a lot of ground defensively, posting a season-high 17 digs. Podlewski, a resident of Haliimaile, Maui, fell one shy of his personal-high of 18, which he set against UCLA last season
The Waves attacked from all angles, registering a .368 team hitting percentage, with five different players recording double-digit kill totals led by 6-foot-8 freshman outside hitter Sean Rooney's 22.
