NO. 2 WARRIORS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS WITH VICTORY AT NO. 9 CSUN: Middle Men Miladinovic, Nordberg Stand Tall in Victory

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – University of Hawaii middle blockers Dejan Miladinovic and Brian Nordberg combined for 14 kills on a .522 hitting percentage, with three blocks solos and 11 block assists to lift the Men of War (14-4, 11-2 MPSF) to a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory on the road at No. 9 Cal State Northridge (11-9, 7-8 MPSF), 30-22, 27-30, 30-21, 30-23, at the Matadome on the CSUN campus.

Miladinovic, a three-time All-MPSF selection entering his senior campaign, put down six kills, with one attacking error in 12 swings (.417) to ignite the Warrior attack from the middle of the floor. Miladinovic returned to form defensively, posting eight total blocks on the evening after recording only five blocks in two matches at UC Santa Barbara earlier this week.

Nordberg, a 6-foot-5 junior middle from Milwaukee, Wisc., enjoyed one of his finest outings as a Warrior, hitting a match-high .636, with eight kills while also registering six total blocks. Nordberg's kill total equaled his best output as a Warrior. He recorded eight kills on three other occasions this season.

Freshman outside hitter Jose Delgado led Hawaii with 17 kills. The Puerto Rico native hit .286 on 28 swings and also put up five total blocks. Junior outside hitters Costas Theocharidis and Eyal Zimet also found the floor for Hawaii, posting 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Theocharidis added five total blocks while Zimet hit .333 on 24 attacks.

Warrior setter Kimo Tuyay distributed 51 assists while sparking Hawaii to a .333 attack percentage in raising his assists per game average to 12.77.

Hawaii concludes its road trip Saturday at Cal State Northridge, with match time set for 7:00 p.m. The match will be broadcast back to the 50th state on KCCN (1420 AM). Internet listeners can access the broadcast by Scott Robbs through the UH Athletics website, at http://uhathletics.hawaii.edu.
